About Brad
Writer, editor and public relations specialist Brad King brings two decades of journalistic experience to the table.
Since 2002, he has managed Brad King Communications Inc., a public relations team that utilizes media expertise to generate positive exposure and valuable publicity for its clients, a list of luminaries that has included The Sea Pines Resort on Hilton Head, S.C., home of Harbour Town Golf Links and the PGA Tour’s Heritage Classic; Georgia’s venerable Sea Island Resort, site of the 2004 G8 Summit and The Cloister hotel; and PGA Tour professional Davis Love III’s course architecture team, Love Golf Design. Brad’s company has represented some of America’s most highly regarded private clubs including Eagle Point Golf Club in Wilmington, N.C., and Stone Eagle Golf Club in Palm Springs, Calif.; along with a plethora of the South Carolina Lowcountry’s finest clubs and communities including Long Cove, Berkeley Hall, Haig Point, Chechessee Creek and The Golf Club at Briar’s Creek; and McConnell Golf, owner of some of the Carolinas’ most celebrated enclaves including Raleigh Country Club, Musgrove Mill Golf Club and the Old North State Club.
A native of Durham, N.C., and a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Brad began his career as an Atlanta sportswriter in 1990, including five years as a writer and columnist for the Marietta Daily Journal; and he served as an editorial assistant for Sports Illustrated during the 1996 Summer Games in Atlanta. He added a master’s degree in mass communications with a specialization in print journalism at the University of Georgia, where he concurrently wrote for and edited both Georgia Magazine and Bulldog Magazine.
In 1997, Brad became a golf writer and editor based on Hilton Head Island, S.C., where he served as managing editor and senior editor of LINKS Magazine, and wrote comprehensive cover stories and opinion columns for the magazine covering professional tours, world-wide travel and the game’s most revered legends. After leaving LINKS to open Brad King Communications in 2002, while representing his company’s bourgeoning client list, Brad penned a popular golf column in Hilton Head’s Island Packet newspaper for five years, and he continues to freelance for a variety of publications. Brad has edited and contributed to numerous book projects, and he teamed with renowned journalists James Dodson and Lee Pace to produce award-winning editorial coverage of the 2005 U.S. Open and the 2007 U.S. Women’s Open for the Southern Pines Pilot.
In 2008, Brad relocated his company headquarters to Winston-Salem, N.C. For more than a decade, he has served as an advisory board member for Georgia Magazine, the University of Georgia’s alumni magazine; and Brad is a longtime member of the Golf Writer’s Association of America (GWAA). He has twice been recognized by the GWAA for editing and column writing, and by the South Carolina Press Association for newspaper column writing.
